and choosing FlashPrint<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>dragging your file from the explorer into FlashPrint 5 if it is already open<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>selecting &#8220;Load File&#8221; from the &#8220;File&#8221; menu in FlashPrint 5<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>To <strong>navigate<\/strong> around your model in FlashPrint:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>left-click and drag to <strong>pan<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>right-click and drag to <strong>rotate<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To manipulate, or change, your model, or models, use the buttons on the right-hand side of the window. A good rule of thumb is to try to rotate and align your model so that the <strong>largest flat surface<\/strong> is on the print bed. Whichever you choose, it is easiest to use the &#8220;Auto Supports&#8221; option in FlashPrint 5 to add them to your print. Note that you can&#8217;t resize or rotate your model once you&#8217;ve added supports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/moodle.yarrahills.vic.edu.au\/wordpress\/steamcentre\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/77\/2025\/06\/image-2-1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-302\" srcset=\"https:\/\/moodle.yarrahills.vic.edu.au\/wordpress\/steamcentre\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/77\/2025\/06\/image-2-1024x576.png 1024w, https:\/\/moodle.yarrahills.vic.edu.au\/wordpress\/steamcentre\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/77\/2025\/06\/image-2-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/moodle.yarrahills.vic.edu.au\/wordpress\/steamcentre\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/77\/2025\/06\/image-2-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/moodle.yarrahills.vic.edu.au\/wordpress\/steamcentre\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/77\/2025\/06\/image-2.png 1080w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Linear<\/strong> are best for <strong>flat<\/strong> overhangs, particularly over large areas. Linear supports are thin, flat columns that rise upwards, and alternate back and forth underneath the print, so that they will (usually) come off in one piece. Linear supports are very stable over large areas, but have a risk of damaging the underside of prints because of the large amount of connection between the supports and the print.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Treelike<\/strong> are best for <strong>non-flat<\/strong> overhangs, like the tips of noses and fingers on characters. Treelike supports are less likely to damage the underside of prints, as they only touch at very small points, but are less stable.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Slicing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you have put your model into FlashPrint, and are happy with the size, rotation, and supports on it, it&#8217;s time to <strong>slice<\/strong> it!
