Having a class lets you assign students &#8216;nicknames&#8217; to sign in with, removing the need for them to make their own accounts. It also lets you keep track of and see all of your students&#8217; designs, organise them into assignments, and assign tutorials or template designs to students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>To create a class on TinkerCAD:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Navigate to the &#8220;Classes&#8221; window either by selecting it from the navigation bar on the left, or from your profile menu in the top right<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click &#8220;Create new class&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Give your class a name, and select the year level (Grades 6 &#8211; 8 or Grades 9 &#8211; 12) and subject that most closely matches<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Download your <strong>class list<\/strong> as a CSV from Compass<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On TinkerCAD, from the class screen, select &#8220;Add students&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click &#8220;Paste a list of students&#8221; at the bottom of the dialog box<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Copy the names of the students in the class from your CSV file into the TinkerCAD window and click &#8220;Add student&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video height=\"720\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 1280 \/ 720;\" width=\"1280\" controls src=\"https:\/\/moodle.yarrahills.vic.edu.au\/wordpress\/steamcentre\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/77\/2025\/06\/TinkerCAD-Create-Class.mp4\"><\/video><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>You will now have a class with all of your students added to it with a nickname, which will be their <strong>preferred name<\/strong> and last name, according to Compass, all lowercase and with no spaces. For instance, Claire Baillie becomes clairebaillie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students can use this nickname to join your class, create an Autodesk account, or use their existing account if they already have one.
