Video Production

With access to quality recording equipment, students can produce professional video as part of or as a project.

Currently, Mt Evelyn Campus has access to a Tricaster Studio with chromakey “green screen” capability but will be moving to the Atem Mini Extreme soon. The TriCaster 350 is an integrated live production system designed to be user-friendly and versatile, making it an excellent tool for high school students. It allows students to create professional-looking broadcasts by mixing multiple video sources, adding graphics, and streaming live to the internet. The system is equipped with a controller, which provides tactile control over live switching, media playback, audio mixing, and macro automation. With its intuitive interface, students can easily learn the basics of video production, while advanced features like virtual sets and chroma keying offer room for creativity and technical growth.

The Mooroolbark Campus uses the Atem Mini Extreme ISO. The ATEM Mini Extreme is a sophisticated live production switcher that’s perfect for high school students who are serious about broadcasting and video production. This advanced model includes all the features of the ATEM Mini Pro, such as multi-camera production and live streaming capabilities, but adds a total of 8 HDMI inputs, 2 separate HDMI outputs, 2 USB ports, and a headphone connection1. It also boasts 4 chroma keyers, 6 picture in picture DVEs, 2 media players, and a multiview with up to 16 views. Designed to be easy to use and fast to learn, the ATEM Mini Extreme allows students to connect multiple cameras, computers, and even gaming consoles to produce dynamic live streams or recorded productions1. The built-in control panel is intuitive, with large buttons for source selection, transitions, and audio mixing, enabling students to switch live in real time and engage in more complex production tasks.
